They say bathrooms and kitchens sell houses – so it’s no surprise that the first bathroom of the season left judges and audiences gasping
One thing that is becoming very clear this season is that the theme for these houses will be a combination of heritage and modern.
The challenge there?
Knowing where to find the fine line, crossing the line into either extreme.
For bathroom it’s all about the tiling, the feel, the functionality and that all important wow factor.
The contestants certainty delivered everything from the luxurious to completely unexpected.
There was so much to love this week, but my particular favorites were found in 3 of the bathrooms.
Who doesn’t love monochrome?
That was the theme is Georgia and Ronnie’s bathroom – the tiles were particularly stunning and added a real sense of luxury to the room.
The black and white theme continued to the bath itself, with touches of gold – in the tap wear.
The bathroom was a perfect combination for masculine and feminine, heritage and modern – very Elsternwick.
One of the most exciting things about watching the block is seeing designs ‘outside the box’ – this week Sticks and Wombat achieved that in spades.
The moment the front door opens all eyes are drawn to the feature wall in the shower, which added a real sense of tranquility.
The softness of the feature was balanced out by incorporating copper pipe-like handles, completely on point with modern trends.
Finally the ‘pièce de résistance’ of the first bathroom challenged had to be the round bath in Josh and Elyse’s bathroom.
Everything about this room, particularly that beautiful round bath gave the bathroom a ‘day spa’ feel.
The wooded cupboards also added a sense of softness to the room, particularly against what could otherwise feel like quite a basic tile.
With only one week week down and plenty rooms to go, this season is shaping up to be quite a stylish ride.
